ISO 14001:2026 Environmental management systems — Requirements with guidance for use

Course description

A practitioner-focused course that shows participants how to understand, design, implement, and maintain an Environmental Management System aligned with ISO 14001:2026. The course follows the PDCA model and translates the requirements of ISO 14001 into practical actions that organizations can apply to improve environmental performance, meet compliance obligations, reduce environmental risks, and support sustainability goals.

Participants will learn how to determine organizational context, identify relevant interested parties, define the EMS scope, establish environmental policy and objectives, evaluate environmental aspects and impacts, address risks and opportunities, and develop practical operational controls. The course also explains how to manage documented information, competence, awareness, internal and external communication, emergency preparedness, monitoring and measurement, evaluation of compliance, internal audits, management review, nonconformity, corrective action, and continual improvement.

Special attention is given to the 2026 revision, including stronger alignment with the latest ISO management system structure, clearer expectations around environmental conditions, climate change, biodiversity, ecosystem health, compliance obligations, life cycle perspective, risk-based planning, and integration with other systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001.
