ISO 14007 Guidelines

ISO 14007:2019 Environmental management — Guidelines for determining environmental costs and benefits

Course description

This practitioner course translates ISO 14007 into a step-by-step approach for determining environmental costs and benefits across your operations, products, and projects. We begin by mapping environmental aspects and organizational dependencies on natural resources (materials, water, ecosystem services) within your business context. You’ll learn when to use qualitative descriptions, quantitative indicators, or monetary valuation, and how to combine them without double counting. We cover selecting boundaries and baselines, choosing valuation approaches (cost accounting, avoided cost, damage cost, shadow pricing), designing data-quality controls, and documenting assumptions and uncertainty. You’ll practice building a defensible register of costs/benefits that links to objectives, budgets, capital projects, and procurement, then prepare clear internal summaries and external disclosures. Templates include aspect-to-value mapping sheets, valuation method picklists, data quality checklists, and disclosure outlines. Applicable to organizations of any size or sector.
