We map organizational and operational boundaries (direct, energy-indirect, and other indirect), select a base year, and structure emissions/removals by relevant categories. You’ll learn to gather activity data, choose credible emission factors, and document assumptions, calculation methods, and consolidation approaches. We cover data controls, uncertainty, and materiality considerations, handling changes (recalculations), and tracking reductions against targets. Electricity and heat purchases, mobile and stationary combustion, process and fugitive sources, and biogenic CO₂ are addressed with practical worksheets. Reporting focuses on transparency, completeness, and consistency, with inventories prepared for internal decision-making and optional third-party assurance readiness. The course includes templates for boundary decisions, factor registers, data quality checks, and management review inputs, as well as Canadian/BC-specific notes on carbon pricing, facility reporting, and offsets/attributes.
